Rs winger to spend a month with Cobblers

Northampton have bolstered their squad ahead of the new season after landing Romone Rose on a month-long loan deal. The 19-year-old QPR man appeared for The Cobblers as a trialist in last weekend's friendly at MK Dons last weekend. Rose goes straight into manager Stuart Gray's squad that goes head-to-head with Macclesfield this weekend. "We have been looking for a right winger with pace and Romone has that," explained Gray. "I was impressed with him and his attitude last weekend. "It all happened rather quickly but he got into his car and made the effort to drive to Milton Keynes and come and play for us as a trialist. "He hadn't met the lads before the game but he got on the pitch early and he showed glimpses of what he can do."

Jackman interest

Meanwhile, Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has confirmed his desire to bring Danny Jackman back to the club. Jackman submitted a transfer request at Sixfields earlier this week and Stimson is keen to see him return to Priestfield. "When I first saw Danny play against us he was the best player on the pitch. I'm surprised he was let go," said Stimson. "He's a player I've admired for a while and I'd love him to come back. "He would be a great addition to my team because he's got what I love in a player and that's enthusiasm as well as that other ingredient you need - a bit of quality."
