Preston boss Alan Irvine has confirmed that Norwich have made an enquiry about winger Simon Whaley.
Reports have suggested both clubs are discussing a possible swap deal involving Whaley and Canaries midfielder Darel Russell.
Norwich confirmed over the weekend that Russell has been attracting interest with Preston rumoured to be the midfielder's suitor.
Preston could be willing to let Whaley move on as he has dropped down the pecking order at Deepdale under Irvine.
Whaley was left out of the squad which played Hallein FC on Saturday and will not play in either of the club's friendlies on Tuesday night.
