Hughes and Paterson targets for McGhee

Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee is still waiting for Stephen Hughes to make a decision over a move to Pittodrie and also wants to hold talks with Plymouth Argyle defender Jim Paterson. McGhee is keen to be reunited with Motherwell midfielder Hughes, who is out of contract at Fir Park and has several options to consider. Former Well boss McGhee had been hopeful of clinching a deal, but is now becoming frustrated by the player's delay in reaching a decision. The Dons are also aiming to speak to Plymouth regarding a possible return to the SPL for ex-Motherwell stopper Paterson. McGhee was in charge of Well when Paterson left for the Pilgrims in January 2008 and is anxious to tie up a double deal for the full-back and Hughes. "Stephen Hughes is simply hedging his bets - we have not been able to force a decision out of Stephen Hughes," McGhee told the club's official website. "Jim Paterson is a player we are interested in, but we are waiting to speak to Plymouth again, I'm waiting to hear from Paul Sturrock. "Those are the only two that are active in terms of trying to bring them here at this moment."
