Goalkeeper Dean Gerken has joined Bristol City from Colchester and signed a two-year deal at Ashton Gate.
The Robins and the Us agreed an undisclosed fee for the 24-year-old, who has been with Colchester for the past seven seasons.
Gerken has now set his sights on challenging Adriano Basso for the No.1 jersey ahead of the new Championship season.
Over the moon
He told City's official website: "I know Adriano's a quality keeper. He's proven at this level and could be proven at a higher level.
"I'm looking forward to working with him and locking horns with him. I'll put up a strong fight.
"I want to play at the highest level possible, I had two good seasons at Championship level with Colchester before and now I want to play in the Championship again.
"I'm over the moon with the move. It's a massive club that plays good football. The players always look like they enjoy their football here."
