Goalkeeper delighted to be handed captain's armband

Romain Larrieu has spoken of his excitement at being named Plymouth captain for next season. The goalkeeper has been with Argyle for nine seasons and is looking forward to taking on such a responsible role. He is happy that Paul Sturrock has showed so much faith in him and has promised not to let him down. "It is a big honour for me to become the club captain and having been at the club for some time now it's great to be handed a new role," Larrieu told skysports.com. "The gaffer told me before we left for our holidays that he was considering giving it to me and it's great to be given the nod. "I am relishing my job to fulfil the capacity next season."

Advantage

The Championship fixtures were announced last week and Plymouth face a trip to Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season. Larrieu accepts it is a tricky start but he believes that could work to Plymouth's advantage. "We finish at home, so I don't mind starting away from Home Park," he explained. "There is also more expectation on the home side to perform on the first day of the season rather than the visitors, so it could give us the edge. "I'm not too disappointed with that and the division is going to be very tough anyway without focusing too much when and where you play certain dates."
