Peterborough United transfer target Ryan Bennett has urged Grimsby Town to let him move to the Championship.
League Two Grimsby rejected an offer from Peterborough for Bennett, describing the bid as 'derisory'.
But Bennett's agent has confirmed the 19 year-old central defender still hopes a deal can be reached when they hold further talks with Grimsby.
"Ryan would welcome the opportunity to talk to Peterborough in the event that the two clubs are able to agree something." Bennett's agent, Darren Bossons, told Sky Sports News. "This position has been expressed to Grimsby."
Posh director of football Barry Fry confirmed the club had stepped up their bid to persuade Grimsby to sell Bennett, who has already made more than 100 appearances for the Mariners and was voted their player of the year.
Posh have been tracking Bennett for several months but have been put off by a reported £1 million asking price.
