Barnsley striker Jon Macken wants to sign a new one-year contract at Oakwell within the next seven days.
The 31-year-old finished the 2008/09 season as the Tykes' joint-top scorer alongside Jamal Campbell-Ryce, with both players netting nine goals.
And that form has led boss Simon Davey to offer Macken an extended deal with the Championship club.
"I'm looking to sign. I want to stay at the club. I really enjoyed last season, to be honest I didn't want it to end." he told The Star.
"Of course we were struggling but we proved we can compete with the best teams and I was scoring goals as well.
"I've just got back from my holiday but I'll hopefully be going into the club next week to sign my new contract. I'm already looking forward to next season."
