Bristol City have confirmed Cole Skuse and Ivan Sproule have been offered new contracts to extend their stay at Ashton Gate.

As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week, City have tabled offers to the midfield pair to extend their respective stays at the club.

Skuse came through the ranks at Ashton Gate and has made over 160 appearances for the Robins, while Northern Ireland international Sproule has established himself as a key member of Gary Johnson's side since his arrival from Hibernian in 2007.

City chairman Steve Lansdown has confirmed the pair are seen as important players for the club's long-term future.

"There is something a bit special about investing in young players and watching them come through into your first team," Lansdown told the Bristol Evening Post.

"Cole falls into that category and is a player who has made good progress at Championship level. He did particularly well in the latter part of last season and has been rewarded for that with the offer of a new contract.

"Ivan is a very useful player to have in the squad. He has showed what he can do because of his electric pace. He gives us another option and always works very hard."
