Matt Richards is hoping to stay at Ipswich after making his first appearance for the club in two years.
Richards looked set to leave Portman Road in the summer until Roy Keane was appointed as Jim Magilton's replacement last week.
The new manager selected Richards for the 3-0 victory over Cardiff on Saturday and the defender is now eager to keep his place.
Richards' contract expires at the end of the season but he would like to make a fresh start under Keane.
"The new manager coming in has given me a chance and I'm thankful for that," the 24-year-old told the club's official website.
"I did okay against Cardiff and hopefully I will get another chance to show the manager what I can do on Sunday.
"There are a lot of us out of contract in the summer and the manager has got a lot of thinking to do.
"The door may be a little bit more open for me now, and I definitely want to stay if possible."
