The Football Association will not charge Doncaster midfielder Richie Wellens over a spitting incident.

The Rovers ace had initially faced disciplinary action from the FA, but has seen the allegations dropped following a hearing on Tuesday.

Wellens was said to have spat in the direction of Swansea midfielder Leon Britton during a Championship clash at the Liberty Stadium on 21st February.

He has, however, been cleared of any wrongdoing and is free to focus on Doncaster's final game of the season against Wolves on Sunday.

"We are pleased that this case as now been resolved and that we had a fair hearing by the FA," Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll told the club's official website.

"We would have abided by any decision that the FA had come to but now can get on with the football after this positive result."
