Barnsley have welcomed the news that Iain Hume will be ready for first team action again next season.
The striker has missed much of the current campaign after suffering a fractured skull during a Championship clash with Sheffield United in November.
He suffered the horrendous injury after being caught by Blades defender Chris Morgan's elbow.
Hume has made steady progress in his recovery since then and will now be ready to make his long-awaited return for the Tykes next term.
"Iain has had another scan and has been advised to continue his training programme but not to play," boss Simon Davey told the club's official website.
"He will re-assess things in pre-season and hopefully we will have a £1.2million striker back with us for the start of the new campaign."
