Lupoli hopeful on promotion

Loan star Arturo Lupoli is hoping he can fire Sheffield United back to the Premier League

Striker keen to fire club back into top flight

Arturo Lupoli is confident his Midas touch in a promotion battle can help propel Sheffield United back to the Premier League, despite Monday's defeat to Burnley. Lupoli, who is on loan at United from Fiorentina until the end of the season, endured a similar situation to his current predicament during the 2006/7 season when he helped Derby win promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs. Sheffield United could still secure automatic promotion but, as was the case with Derby, the play-offs are the Blades' most likely route, a scenario for which Lupoli is fully prepared. "I moved to Derby County on a season-long loan in August 2006 and I remember what a great feeling it was when we got promoted after the play-offs and I want that feeling again," Lupoli told skysports.com. Lupoli, who has scored two goals in seven appearances for the Blades, believes United deserve to be back among England's elite in the Premier League.

"Sheffield United deserve to be in the Premier League," he added. "The side is good enough to play Premier League football and has worked hard enough to deserve it. "We'd all obviously love automatic promotion but if it is down to the play-offs, we'll be ready. "The manager, Kevin Blackwell, has inspired us all season and we'd all love to do it for him and the club. "We'll give it everything we have got in the play-offs if that's the way it goes. "I'm here to score goals for the Blades, and that's what I'll be trying to do."
