Derby defender wanted Down Under

Ambitious A-League outfit Perth Glory have expressed an interest in signing Derby defender Andy Todd. The Australian side feel the 34-year-old would be a welcome addition to their squad, brining vital experience to their quest for success. Todd has spent much of his career in the English top flight, taking in spells at Middlesbrough, Bolton and Charlton before moving to Blackburn in 2002, where he was twice named as the club's player of the year. He then joined Derby in 2007 and was part of the Rams squad which endured a horrendous 2007/08 campaign, slipping out of the Premier League with a miserly 11 points. Having struggled to force his way into the first-team picture at Pride Park this season, he was sent out on loan to League One side Northampton in November, where he enjoyed a seven-game spell. Despite his lack of action this term he still remains of interest to Glory, with coach Dave Mitchell keen to get the veteran centre-half on board. "The boy Andy Todd, whose playing at Derby, we've been interested in him," he confirmed. Glory are also keen to raid the Rams for Australia international Mile Sterjovski.
