Blackpool's on-loan forward Roy O'Donovan has been forced to have his appendix removed.
The 23-year-old complained of feeling unwell prior to Tuesday's 2-2 draw at Sheffield United.
He pulled out of the Seasiders' line-up just before kick-off and was admitted to hospital in Sheffield.
Tests confirmed that appendicitis was the problem and on Wednesday lunchtime O'Donovan underwent surgery to have his appendix taken out.
The operation is said to have been a success but it remains to be seen how long O'Donovan will be sidelined.
