Stuart Elliott has returned to Doncaster Rovers after spending the past two months on loan at Grimsby Town.
The midfielder originally moved to Blundell Park on a one-month deal in January before extending his stay for a second month.
Grimsby boss Mike Newell had been weighing up the possibility of keeping hold of Elliott for a third and final month.
However, after playing in the Mariners' 5-1 thrashing of Lincoln City on Saturday, Elliott has decided to head back to Doncaster.
"I've just had a word with Stuart and he says he's going back to Doncaster," Newell told the club's official website.
"We've thanked him, he's done brilliant for us.
"He's got a great attitude, he's very professional and we've got a couple of results with him in the side.
"When you weigh up how many wins we have had this season, you've got to say that he's done well for us."
