Blues striker will not require surgery on knee injury

Birmingham City have confirmed James McFadden will be out for two months with a knee injury. The Scottish forward damaged medial ligaments in last week's 1-0 win over Derby County at St Andrews, although he will not require surgery. However, Blues boss Alex McLeish has confirmed it is likely to be eight weeks before McFadden is back to aid the club's promotion push. "Eight weeks is the target for James," McLeish told the club's official website. "No surgery is required though, thankfully. I think we've had five players require surgery since the summer. "It's been a huge dose of bad luck that. You can work hard to prevent other injuries, but we've had a wee bit of bad luck on that front. "Let's hope we're on a good run of form by the time James is back and he's coming into a winning squad because we're capable of doing that." Meanwhile, McLeish expects full-back Stuart Parnaby to be out for up to a month with a thigh injury picked up in last weekend's draw at Sheffield Wednesday. He added: "Parnaby will be out for a wee while - maybe three or four weeks."
