Adams enquires about former Fratton Park favourite

Portsmouth have made an enquiry for former star Amdy Faye, skysports.com understands. Pompey boss Tony Adams has admitted he is still in the market for midfield reinforcements and he is lining up a move for Stoke ace Faye. The experienced midfielder was a big fans' favourite at Portsmouth before his move to Newcastle in 2005 and Adams is keen to bring him back to Fratton Park. Faye has impressed at Stoke this season after arriving from Charlton in the summer and he has been one of Tony Pulis' best signings. The Senegal international has established himself as a key member of the Stoke side and he has caught the eye of a number of clubs with several impressive performances. Faye is out of contract in the summer and the news has alerted Portsmouth, who are hoping to tempt Stoke to do business before the close of the transfer window rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer. A couple of other Premier League clubs are thought to be monitoring Faye's situation at the Britannia Stadium, but Adams is hoping to lure him back to Portsmouth as he looks to bolster his squad.
