Plymouth boss unsure about signing Austrian striker

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock is weighing up the pros and cons of a deal for Austrian striker Roman Kienast. Sturrock has been assessing Kienast on trial this week and admits he has an interest in signing the forward. However, Sturrock also concedes the financial implications of the deal, and the level of Kienast's fitness, could prompt him to look elsewhere. "The trialist we had this week, he has been out of season for two months, so he hasn't been up to speed or had a game," Sturrock told the club's official website.

Difficult to judge

"I have got to try and make a judgment on that. "I would like to hear the financial terms from the other club and the financial terms from his agent before I make a considered decision on whether he is coming to the football club or not, and that is far as it has gone so far. "I have then also got to deliberate on whether I can get him up to speed. There is no point doing an Mpenza and waiting four weeks before he comes into general play. "If we are going to get the bonus of a loan player, they have to be ready, so I have to make that decision on whether I can get him up to speed in a week or ten days. "He has got attributes. You don't play for your country 10 times and in the European Championships if you don't have something, but it was very difficult to judge. I learned that he is a reasonably good finisher."
