Vale miss out on defender but hope to extend loans for two players

Port Vale have missed out on extending defender Gareth Owen's loan deal after his club Stockport County recalled him on Tuesday. Owen had joined the club in late November and made five appearances during his time at Vale Park. The League Two club are more hopeful of extending the loans of midfielder Dave Brammer and defender Lee Collins. Collins has been virtually an ever-present this season but is coming to the end of his six-month stay and manager Dean Glover is already in talks with his parent club Wolves. Glover is also keen to thrash out a deal with Brammer which would extend his loan at the club. The midfielder, in his second spell at the club, has made four appearances since his temporary move from Millwall in October. "It is very frustrating to say the least," Glover told the club's official website over Owen's departure. "Gareth is just the type of player we need in order to improve the team. "He adds some much needed experience, but unfortunately there is very little we can do about it when a situation like this occurs, but it is frustrating."
