On-loan striker Paul Gallagher is set to end his stay at Plymouth until the end of the season.
Gallagher has impressed at Home Park since his arrival from Blackburn in August, scoring seven goals in 21 games.
Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock was keen to keep Gallagher and he has been given the green light by Rovers chief Sam Allardyce to extend the Scot's stay.
"I've spoken to Sam and unless they have injuries or someone comes in with a fantastic offer he's staying with us for the season," Sturrock told the club's official website.
The 24-year-old is currently sidelined with a knee injury picked up in the 2-0 victory over Southampton on Boxing Day and faces a scan later this week to determine the extent of the problem.
