Owls defender ready to turn loan move into permanent deal
Sheffield Wednesday are looking to sign on-loan defender Lewis Buxton on a permanent deal.
The defender is currently on loan from Stoke City and with his contract due to run out at the end of the season Buxton is keen on a move away from the Britannia Stadium.
Wednesday manager Brian Laws is keen on a deal which would see the 25-year-old join in January.
Buxton has featured ten times for Wednesday in the Championship this season and is optimistic that a deal between the clubs can be sorted out.
"My contract with Stoke is up in the summer and I need to sort something out as soon as I can," he told the Daily Star.
"Sheffield Wednesday is a big club that can go places."
Laws hopes the permanent signing of Buxton can help give the Owls a boost and push them into the play-off places.
"Lewis has been a good acquisition and is a player we would like to have in our squad," the Wednesday boss acknowledged.
"He is so versatile that he is really useful to club in a situation like ours."
