Chris Coleman has hinted that he could try to bring in James McPake in the January transfer window.
The Livingston captain recently agreed a deal to join Coventry at the end of the season, when he will be able to move on a free transfer.
However, the Sky Blues are currently facing an injury crisis in defence and may offer to pay up the remainder of McPake's contract to secure his services earlier.
"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at our situation and see that we need a bit of help," Coleman said in the Edinburgh Evening News.
"So, with a bit of luck, if something can be done in the transfer window, then great."
Coleman has been tracking McPake since last season and believes the 24-year-old would be successful at the Ricoh Arena.
He explained: "We watched him a lot last year and then he played in the friendly between the clubs and did a very good job.
"I think he will be good for the Championship."
