Nottingham Forest striker Joe Garner believes the club should stand by current boss Colin Calderwood.

Garner, signed in the summer for £1.14million from Carlisle, scored his long awaited first goal of the season in Forest's 1-0 win over Barnsley.

Despite the victory the pressure still seems to be on Calderwood with his side 23rd in the Championship and just one point off the bottom.

Saturday's win over Barnsley was only the club's third of the season sparking rumours that chairman Nigel Doughty was set to replace his manager with former Derby County boss Billy Davies.

Garner told the Daily Mirror: "There was a lot said about the manager's position but we're out there to get results and that's what we've done.

"All the lads are behind the manager and the fans can see we've been playing well. I've a lot of faith in him for bringing me here and the performances have warranted more points.

"I'm happy to get a goal here and hopefully there will be many more. We've just come up from the league below and obviously it's difficult to adjust but I think we can turn the corner now. It's a great three points for us.

"We've been playing well lately but our luck changed against Barnsley."
