Crewe Alexandra have snapped up midfielder Stuart Green on an emergency loan from Blackpool.

Green has made just one appearance in the Carling Cup for Blackpool this season and heads to Gresty Road until 21st December.

The former Crystal Palace man could make his debut for Crewe in Saturday's League One encounter at home to Leyton Orient.

Meanwhile, Railwaymen striker Tom Pope has signed a two-year extension to his contract to stay with the club until 2011.

Pope had been keen to agree a new deal with the strugglers and is happy to be staying with Steve Holland's side.

"I want to stay here because Crewe is a great club and I'm learning something every day and I feel I'm improving all the time," Pope told the club's official website.

"Crewe have brought me this far and I see no reason why I can't go further with them."
