Neil Warnock has suggested Ben Watson is receiving bad advice as the midfielder considers his Crystal Palace future.
Watson is out of contract at the end of the season and has been offered an extension to stay at Selhurst Park.
Reading have been linked with a bid for the 23-year-old, who is not prepared to rush into a decision regarding his future plans.
Palace boss Warnock says the contract offer remains on the table and he has questioned the advice Watson has been given.
"We've made him a great offer - the best offer we've ever given anybody at the club in my time here and it's still on the table," said Warnock in the Daily Mirror.
"You'll have to ask his representative why he won't sign it. I think sometimes the advice given to players by those who represent them is given for the wrong reasons and not in the player's best interests.
"He's a lovely lad, but sometimes these things happen at every level of professional football.
"If I said what I wanted to say there would be recriminations."
