Brentford have secured the signing of Dean Bowditch from Ipswich Town on a one-month loan deal.

Bowditch has been restricted to just one appearance in the Carling Cup for Ipswich this season and has been allowed out to gain first-team experience.

The striker could make his debut for Brentford against Rochdale on Saturday and Town boss Jim Magilton feels it is important for the youngster to be playing regularly.

"We have agreed to let Dean go to Brentford for a month on loan," Magilton told the club's official website.

"He needs to be playing regular first-team football and hopefully he can go to Brentford, play well and score a few goals."

The 22-year-old has enjoyed several spells away from Portman Road in the past, including stints at Brighton and Northampton last season.
