On-loan Burnley defender Russell Anderson has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Scot out with cruciate knee ligament injury
Burnley have been dealt a major injury blow with the news that Russell Anderson has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Anderson damaged knee ligaments during Tuesday's 1-0 Carling Cup success over Fulham at Turf Moor.
The Scotland international joined the Clarets from Sunderland on a season-long loan in the summer, but now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury.
A statement on Burnley's official website read: "On behalf of everyone at Turf Moor, we wish Russell a full and speedy recovery."
Anderson recorded four Championship starts for Burnley, with the club currently 13th in the table after seven games of the new season.
