Wolves midfielder Darren Potter has been taken off the transfer list at Molineux.

But Davies could leave Wolves on loan

Wolves midfielder Darren Potter has been taken off the transfer list at Molineux. The former Liverpool man was told he could look for a new club in the summer as Mick McCarthy looked to trim his squad. However, McCarthy has now decided to keep the Republic of Ireland international on board and Potter is determined to fight for his place in the side. "I never wanted to leave anyway so I was more than happy when the gaffer asked me if I wanted to be taken off the list," Potter told the club's official website. "He spoke to me before the friendly with Coventry and now I just want to concentrate on my football and win a place back in the team although I realise that it isn't going to be easy, especially with the way the lads are playing."

Injury

McCarthy also revealed that Mark Davies saw a loan move to Notts County fall through because of injury. Davies is expected to be farmed out when he returns to fitness as the Wolves boss looks for him to get him some regular action under his belt. "Sparky (Davies) would have gone out on loan but he had sore shins and needed to rest, but he'll be alright," said McCarthy. "He was going to go to Notts County for a month, just to get some football. Sparky needs to play but then having 'Potts' off the list and ready to compete for a spot, gives me the opportunity to send Mark out when he is fit."
