Steven Thompson has spoken of his delight at completing his move to Burnley.

Thompson joined Owen Coyle's side from Cardiff City on a free transfer on the final day of the transfer window.

The 29-year-old, who has penned a two-year deal at Burnley, is now focused on ensuring the club climb up the Championship table after a shaky start to the new term.

Thompson said in This is Lancashire: "I feel great. It's the last day and I am glad to have got my move eventually.

"I am delighted to be here at Burnley and linking up with Owen Coyle, because he was a big reason for me joining the club.

"I am very hungry to prove myself and I think the Burnley fans can expect 100 per cent effort and hopefully, as I turn 30 next month, a player with a lot of experience who wants to bring that to the team."

Coyle added: "I am delighted. Steven is a player we've been tracking for some time and it was very attractive given that there was no fee involved."
