Forest do not expect further fresh faces

Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood has played down speculation linking him with a move for Derby's Stephen Pearson. The Rams midfielder is currently out-of-favour at Pride Park and has drawn attention from a host of clubs this summer. Forest were believed to be among those sides tracking the Scotland international during the close season, but decided against making a move. Calderwood insists that situation has not changed and does not expect to bring in any new faces before the transfer window closes on 1st September.

Depth

He said: "We're just about done - we're eyeing one or two up but I don't think anything will come to fruition. "By the time the next game comes after Burnley (on 13th September) we'll be able to loan then, so the necessity is less than in the Premier League." Calderwood then refused to comment on whether he will be looking to utilise the loan market to bolster the numbers in his squad. "I think with the players returning we're going to give ourselves some added depth and that will keep the players on their toes," he said.
Decisive
Forest have made a promising start to life back in the Championship this season, while they pushed top flight opponents Sunderland all the way to extra-time in the second round of the Carling Cup on Wednesday. The Black Cats eventually emerged as 2-1 victors, but Calderwood was delighted to see his side put on an eye-catching display in front of the Sky Sports cameras. "I'm pleased we have performed half decently on TV and given a decent account of ourselves, so that's quite pleasing and quite a positive sign, and our appetite was excellent," he said. "We got about them but just that period before the end (cost us), and the boys are really disappointed they haven't seen it out. "We just ran out of that effectiveness and energy to be decisive and really hurt them."
Expectation
Calderwood now expects his players to maintain the level of performance they showed against Roy Keane's men when they return to league action this weekend. "Everyone will raise their game and we've seen that through the cup ties, and it's about that level of performance," he added. "That is now our expectation and there is no game that is unappetising to us his season, so there should be no lethargic displays this season because with layers returning we'll be stronger and more effective."
