Birmingham have been quick to quash speculation linking James McFadden with a move to Rangers.
The Championship side are desperate to retain the services of their better players after slipping put of the Premier League last season.
McFadden certainly fits into that category and is expected to provide the Blues' most potent attacking threat this term.
He has been strongly linked with a host of clubs this summer, but, as yet, nothing has materialised.
Alex McLeish insists that the club have no intention of parting with their Scotland international, while also conceding that he would not expect Rangers to be able to afford his star man.
"I don't think Rangers have got the money to afford McFadden, to be honest," the former Gers boss told the Birmingham Mail.
"I would doubt that one very much, in fact I've never heard that rumour."
