Burnley boss Owen Coyle has played down speculation linking the club with moves for two new players.
The Clarets are said to be in the hunt for Latvian winger Aleksandr Solovjovs and Ipswich defender Alex Bruce.
Solvjovs featured in friendlies against Glentoran and Bradford during a trial spell at the Championship outfit, before rejoining parent club JFK Olimps Riga.
Coyle admits that he made enquiries as to the availability of the player, but failed to reach a compromise with his club regarding a transfer fee.
"Alexsandr obviously went back to his club and they are looking for a decent sum of money, which at this moment in time is above what we would be looking to pay.
"I won't say the door is closed, but we won't be doing anything imminent on that one at the moment."
Coyle also distanced himself from rumours suggesting that he is set to make a move for Bruce.
He added: "I have one or two things out there just now. If they come back then we will move quickly on them."
