Bristol Rovers are set to offer Danny Coles a new contract to ward off interest from Championship suitors Plymouth.
Rovers' director of football Lennie Lawrence revealed that Argyle have submitted "above five bids" for the central defender.
A medial ligament injury forced Coles from the field during the Pirates' friendly defeat to Den Haag at the weekend, but Lawrence insists that will not alter the situation.
"If you don't keep your best players, you won't progress - and he is certainly one of them," Lawrence told BBC Radio Bristol.
"He is not going and we are going to sort out his situation here over the next week or two.
"His injury will keep him out for three or four weeks but, whether he is injured or not, he is not going."
