Defender completes Rangers switch

Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of Kaspars Gorkss from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee. The Latvian defender's switch to Loftus Road has been one of the most protracted transfers of the summer, but has finally been pushed through. The 26-year-old, who featured for the R's in a pre-season friendly against Kilmarnock on Tuesday, has penned a three-year deal with the London club. Rangers boss Iain Dowie was delighted to see the saga reach a conclusion and is looking forward to working with the centre-half.

Physical

"Kaspars knows we intend to play good, attractive football, and he wants to be a part of it," Dowie told the club's official website. "We've signed an international defender who has a great physical presence, good pace and is comfortable on the ball. "He's an ambitious lad who wants to take his game forward." Striker Daniel Nardiello has moved in the opposite direction, penning a two-year contract with the Seasiders, while Zesh Rehman has also moved to Bloomfield Road on an initial six-month loan, with an option to make the deal permanent in the future.
