Bristol City have completed the signing of striker Nicky Maynard from Crewe Alexandra for a club record fee of £2.25million.
Skysports.com reported on Wednesday that the Railwaymen had been approached about the availability of their talented 21-year-old.
And both clubs have now confirmed the transfer with Maynard penning a four-year contract at Ashton Gate.
The youngster becomes Robins manager Gary Johnson's second acquisition of the summer following midfielder Gavin Williams' arrival from Ipswich Town.
Maynard, who scored 15 goals for Alex last season, is set to make his Bristol City debut in the pre-season friendly against Royal Antwerp on Friday evening.
