Skysports.com understands that Crewe have accepted a bid of over £2million for Nicky Maynard.
An unnamed Championship club has agreed the fee with the Railwaymen and will now be hoping to push through the transfer.
Maynard has been tracked by a host of teams since scoring with his first touch on his league debut for Alex in 2006.
The 21-year-old has gone on to net 35 goals in just 65 games and is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects outside of the top two divisions.
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton admitted he was interested in the striker earlier this month, while Bristol City have also been linked.
Maynard has also attracted the attention of Premier League sides Middlesbrough, Fulham and Hull in recent times.
