Ipswich have given Huddersfield permission to discuss personal terms with Gary Roberts.
The Terriers have seen a bid for the out-of-favour winger accepted by Ipswich and will now step up their attempts to lure him to the Galpharm Stadium.
The 24-year-old hardly featured in Jim Magilton's plans towards the end of last season and was told that he was free to find a new club.
As a result, the Ipswich boss confirmed on Friday that Roberts appears set for the Portman Road exit.
"We have had an offer from Huddersfield for Gary that we have accepted," he told the club's official website.
"The player is now clear to speak to them and we will see what develops after that."
