Frenchman trains with Pymouth

Skysports.com understands that Metz midfielder Flavien Belson is training with Plymouth. The 21-year-old midfielder has come through the ranks at Metz and is on the fringes of the first-team squad. He has two-years left on his contract at the Saint-Symphorien but he could now be heading for a switch to England. Belson has linked up with Plymouth on their pre-season tour of Austria and is expected to play in their friendly with German outfit Greuther Furth on Tuesday. Should Belson impress manager Paul Sturrock then he could sign for The Pilgrims on a loan deal with a view to a permanent move.

Griffit interest

Belson is not the only trialist currently with Plymouth as former Southampton midfielder Leandre Griffit has also joined up with the squad. The 24-year-old, who Sturrock worked with during his tenure at St Mary's, is currently playing in Sweden with Elfsborg but he is seemingly keen to return to England. "We are going to play him on Tuesday. I had to look at him to make sure he was okay fitness-wise," Sturrock said of Griffit. Both Belson and Griffit will have to impress to earn a deal as Sturrock has already opted against signing French defender Andreas Manga and Hearts' Argentine midfielder Fernando Screpis - after both spent time on trial with the club last week. "Although the midfielder (Screpis) is a good footballer, I'm beginning to believe that unless they are a high, high standard from abroad, I'm going to have to invest in British," added Sturrock.
