Fiorentina have revealed they are considering an offer from Norwich for Arturo Lupoli.
The former Arsenal striker, who also had a loan spell with Derby, is contracted to Viola until 2012.
He could now be set to return to England but Fiorentina have warned they will only let him go on a short-term deal.
"Fiorentina announces it has received an offer from English club Norwich City
Football Club for the permanent transfer of striker Arturo Lupoli," read an official club statement.
"Fiorentina would be willing to transfer the player on a temporary basis.
"The negotiations will continue in the coming days."
Young Norwich striker Kris Renton, meanwhile, has signed his first professional contract.
The 18-year-old suffered a double leg break last October but has now put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal and is hoping to make an impact at Carrow Road this term.
"I am absolutely delighted. I just want to get back playing and try and break into the first team by Christmas," Renton told the club's official website.
