Port Vale have joined the list of clubs interested in Barnsley midfielder Simon Heslop.
The youngster is currently training with Rochdale, but is also wanted by League Two rivals Grimsby Town.
Vale have now confirmed their interest in Heslop, who has made just one substitute's appearance during his Barnsley career.
"We have registered an interest in Simon, but as yet we haven't spoken to the player," Vale boss Lee Sinnott told the club's official website.
Meanwhile, Sinnott is hoping to bring in an unnamed midfielder, who is thought to be on a week-to-week contract at his current club.
He added: "We had a face-to-face meeting with the player on Monday. We showed him around and he seemed to be impressed with what he saw.
"We've made him an offer and he's considering it. I don't know when a decision will be made, we'll have to wait and see.
"I imagine there is other interest in him, but I'm not going to start naming clubs."
