Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood feels Andy Cole's decision to join the club is a testament to their ambition.
On Friday, Forest announced the signing of former Sunderland striker Cole on a free transfer.
Calderwood is currently preparing his side for the forthcoming Championship season, and he believes the capture of Cole, 36, proves the club are heading in the right direction.
"It was clear when I met Andrew earlier this week that he still has a desire to be successful," manager Calderwood told the club's official website.
"He doesn't just want to play, he wants to be successful and we're delighted that he's chosen us because it shows he thinks we might be the vehicle to get him what he wants."
