Darryl Flahavan underwent a medical at Crystal Palace on Tuesday ahead of his proposed summer switch.
The keeper is set to end an eight-year spell at Southend during the close season, with Selhurst Park seemingly his most likely destination.
Eagles assistant boss Mick Jones confirmed that the club were expecting the 29-year-old to complete the switch in the coming days.
He will provide cover to first-choice Julian Speroni, while staking his own claim for the right to wear the No.1 jersey.
"Flahavan is having a medical with us and that deal should go through subject to that medical," Jones told the Croydon Advertiser.
"He is a more than adequate competitor for Julian Speroni.
"He is a good goalkeeper and there was a lot of interest in him, but we are an attractive proposition at the moment."
