Michael Spillane is determined to force his way into Glenn Roeder's plans at Norwich City next season.
The teenage midfielder has made just two appearances since Roeder took charge at Carrow Road and was criticised by the manager in the spring.
He admits Roeder's comments did hurt and Spillane is aiming to prove to the Norwich boss that he deserves to be a first-team regular.
Spillane told the Norwich Evening News: "I always give 110%, and for someone to tell me I haven't been, it hurt a lot.
"I've been working hard over the break and putting the work in and I hope to be playing at the start of the season.
"It's a massive season for me. I'm going to come out of the blocks. I want to be playing the first game of the season and I want to be playing every game of the season.
"That's my goal. I'm not going to accept anything less. I just want to play."
