Karl Duguid has ended a 14-year association with Colchester United in order to sign for Plymouth Arglye
The versatile 30-year-old has been captain at Layer Road for the past four seasons and arrives at Home Park for an undisclosed fee.
Having made 442 appearances in a U's shirt - scoring 45 goals - fans' favourite Duiguid will be a tough act to replace, with Colchester chairman relaying his gratitude towards the player.
"Karl has been a long-time servant to the club and is now coming towards the end of his career and wants the opportunity to play in the Championship and deserves his chance," he told the club's official website.
U's chief executive Marie Partner added: "Karl has been a part of the furniture here for many years and has been a good servant to Colchester."
