QPR manager Iain Dowie is hoping to complete the signing of Blackpool defender Kaspars Gorkss by the end of June.
Rangers tabled an undisclosed bid for the Latvia international last week and are yet to hear back from Championship rivals Blackpool, who plucked Gorkss from his homeland in Janaury 2007.
The 26-year-old impressed in his first full season in England, making 39 league starts as the Tangerines maintained their Championship status, with Preston and Watford also linked with the Latvian.
Dowie's squad is set to begin pre-season training on June 30, by which time the Hoops' boss hopes to have wrapped up his summer rebuilding plans.
"He is one we would like to bring here," Dowie told Rangers' official website. "I really like the look of him as a player and if it happens, then great.
"Ideally I would like to have the squad in place for the first day of pre-season training. That will enable us to condition them as we want, with our own methods."
