Ipswich boss keen on Leicester defender

Ipswich manager Jim Magilton has hinted that he could make a fresh approach to Leicester for Gareth McAuley. The centre-back was the subject of a failed bid from Ipswich back in January and he has since put pen-to-paper on a new three-year deal with the Foxes. However, Magilton is still an admirer of the 28-year-old and may decide to test Leicester's resolve with another offer. "The players I am looking to sign have not deviated from my targets in January," Magilton told the Leicester Mercury. "I've known Gareth for a very long time and I thought he was excellent here (at Portman Road) last year, and he has played very well in games I've seen him play for Northern Ireland." Leicester's squad could be set for an overhaul this summer following their relegation from the Championship, with a new manager yet to be appointed to replace Ian Holloway.
