Alan Knill is hoping Wolves will allow young midfielder Elliott Bennett to stay at Bury next season.
Bennett joined the League Two club on loan in January, having previously undergone a stint at Crewe Alexandra.
He has been a key figure in Bury's climb to safety and Shakers boss Knill is planning a chat with his Wolves counterpart Mick McCarthy.
"I'd be delighted if he came back next season," said Knill.
"Elliott likes it here. Fortunately I'm pretty friendly with Mick, and if Mick thinks that this is the best place for Elliott to develop, then hopefully we will have a chance of taking him next season."
Bennett has scored once in 19 games for Bury, while he has appeared twice in the Wolves first team in the Carling Cup this season.
