Michael Turner has agreed a new three-year contract at Hull City, much to the delight of manager Phil Brown.
The defender has been discussing an extension at the KC Stadium for several weeks following an impressive season.
Celtic had been linked with a bid for Turner, but the centre-half has pledged his future to the promotion hopefuls.
Turner will sign the contract next week and Tigers boss Brown feels it is a positive sign for the club.
"Michael has verbally agreed a new three-year deal and that will keep him at the club until 2011," Brown told the club's official website.
"He'll put pen-to-paper officially on Monday or Tuesday next week, but we've shaken hands on it.
"All parties concerned are delighted about this and it's a good sign that this football club is heading in the right direction.
"The fact that Michael wants to be on board has to be a good sign."
