West Bromwich Albion striker Kevin Phillips has put contract talks on hold until the end of the season.
Phillips' present deal expires in the summer and the Championship leaders are keen for the former England international to stay.
The veteran forward has netted 24 goals this season and scored twice against Blackpool on Tuesday to send the Baggies to the top of the table.
But, with plenty still left to play for this term, Phillips' agent Phil Smith has confirmed that further discussions with the club will not take place for a few weeks.
"Kevin is very open minded, but at the moment we are at the business end of the season and we are at a stage where so much is riding on every game," Smith told the Express and Star.
"We made the decision that we don't want to elongate the discussions any further for now."
