Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has been frustrated in his attempts to tie Clinton Morrison down to a new deal.
Morrison's current contract expires at the end of the season and he could leave for nothing in the summer.
Warnock is keen to keep the Republic of Ireland international, but talks have stalled as the Eagles have been unable to get in contact with Morrison's agent.
"We're still trying to speak to Clinton - but he reckons his agent was away in America until Monday," Warnock told the South London Press.
"We'll have to wait and see what happens - you can only ask to speak to people."
Warnock is also hoping to agree new deals with captain Mark Hudson and goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
